SAP Certification versus SAP Experience: What is the way forward?

Certification without Experience or Experience without Certification: What is the way forward?

This question has been a burning issue within an SAP environment for quite some time. Arguement for and against SAP Certification is growing daily. Recently, the new SAP CEO, Léo Apotheker made his honest contributions to the topic but the debate seems not to be ending. As an SAP Certified Consultant, I would like to “sit on the fence” at the moment but I believe there should be a way where Certification or Experience could be compromised. If not: What is the way forward?
